What is poverty?

We all have come to known poverty is a lack of acceptable amount of money or material possessions to maintain a way of life. However, there is a far greater poverty, its abandonment! It means being unwanted, unloved, neglected ultimately deprived of affection.

It does not only consist of satisfying an impulsive stomach-growling financial hunger but a hunger for emotional fulfillment. Our hearts will always yearn for a passionate love. Whether its to love someone or to be that passionate beacon for someone else. For those reasons, we will become extremely confused when we do not feel anything but emptiness!

We become overwhelmed with such emptiness. we seem to not care who has been by our side, we just plow through them selfishly leaving them emotionally bruised in our desperation to feel something. We engage in substance abuse, alcohol, sex and the dopamine search continues until we feel something.

Love is one of the six basic emotions that we experience daily. When we no longer “feel loved” we become bruised! How do we avoid becoming enslaved to an emotional poverty? In order to rise up, we NEED to be knowledgeable of our state of mind. Emotions are complicated reactions that affect our bodies and minds. The key is to embrace what you are feeling, the thoughts you are having, the actions that are causing you to feel this way.

What is most important is to integrate your faith.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” – John 3:16
